Boo to a Goose craft activity- Virtual Book club Mem Fox

 

We have a new author to focus on at Virtual Book Club for the month of May (yes I know that's already passed.....sadly I missed the link but still wanted to share....) the very clever Mem Fox!

She has LOADS of wonderful books for children, some of which are Sapphire's absolute fav (mine too if i was honest!!) Where is the Green Sheep is most certainly one of them followed closely by Time for Bed!!
SO with books on the table and art to be had we decided to make some 3D animals!! Our inspiration was from another Mem Fox book called "Boo to a Goose" with amazing 3D illustrations by David Miller.

Zeke and Hannah were keen to make their own "here is the ...... Sheep" and Sophia and Esther got busy making a goose. I helped the girls cut and make LOTS and LOTS of feathers for their geese and when Esther saw the picture of the baby goose (now she knows it's called a gosling) with her Mummy she wanted to make a gosling too!
Both geese are made from paper plates, Esther's one is from HERE and Soph just made it up.

 

 

 

 

I helped her with the neck and head, she did the beak. I love that she added grey feathers for the tail and that Esther wanted to have her gosling tucked under the Mummy's wing keeping safe!! SOoo precious!

Zeke's sheep is a "here is a SUPER SHEEP!!" complete with all his insides!! Why do you ask??

 

 Last week the older children went to a science class a local school hold and there they learnt all about sheep hearts and livers (it was a dissecting lesson... YUCK!!!) and so he jumped online and got the diagram and made all the working bits for his super sheep!! His sheep is sooo super his insides are human!! AWESOME!!! 

Hannah has a "here is the Rock Star sheep!" She took her inspiration from Wildstyle from The Lego Movie, added some punk looking makeup and a very groovy guitar!! LOVE IT!

Wonderful World Wednesday - Nature field trip

I took the children to Corra Linn today for our Nature study field trip! They all totally LOVED it and are already asking when we can go back!!

 

 

 

 Esther is helping chase the ducks away while Sophia enjoys her picnic lunch!

 

My little nephew was with us today, that sweet little boy in blue! It was completely delightful to see my treasures sooooo loving the Wonderful World that God has made around them! I'm really looking forward to going back again soon too!

Mummy craft - make your own sarcophagus (Egyptian Unit Study)

One of the most fun Egyptian activities the children and I did was making our own Sarcophagus's!! It took some time (as you will note in the pictures with all the changes of clothes.... in saying that the girls do change at least TWICE a day anyway HEE HEE!!!!) but the end result was totally worth every minute!! I saw the idea HERE. Each of our precious treasures added their own wonderful arty style and learnt loads along the way on how Egyptians bury their dead.

 

 first you need to trace your body shape

 then you get to paint your main colour and add the finer details

Wonderful World Wednesday-Autumn outing

Autumn really is my absolute favourite time of the year! So with all the leaves looking sooo amazing we had to get out and enjoy some of the sunny weather while we can! The Gorge in Launceston is one of the best picks for Autumn splendor!

 I sooo love that Esther and Sapphire are holding hands, so precious!

Alphabet fun craft - {Denise Fleming Virtual Book Club for Kids}

 

I'm sooo happy that we didn't miss the latest Virtual Book club featuring Denise Fleming!! I even got some books from our Library for it! YAY! We were able to get a wonderful Alphabet book called "Alphabet under Construction"
I read it to the little ones and then we did a craft. What I love about this book is that the older children loved it too (they had already read it on the way home from the Library!!) We then had a brain storm on otherways we could decorate the letters, like "s" stripes, "e" eyecatching colour, "r" raindrops!!
Another fabbo thing about this activity is that it covered all of my children's ages! Zeke and Hannah came up with more advanced alliteration combinations, it was super!!
