The Ice Age - Timeline Tuesday and History day!

We believe in the power of words, they can either speak life or death! SO when our family gets hit with constant amounts of colds and viruses we have a saying....
"we are sick and tired of being unwell and sleepy!!!"
It's a funny thing to say but its the truth as we hit another week of one of our treasures being unwell!
Last week it was Hannah, beginning this week it was Sophia and now as of today Zeke has the hot and colds!! OHhh dear it certainly is that time of year!!!!!

On an up side we looked at the Ice Age on Tuesday for History and timeline Tuesday!! It was wonderful, we all had heaps of fun and I've got some cool ideas of what we can do while people are getting their strength back......
Like making a cave painting

The Great Dinosaur Search
just got this from the library as it has pages on The Ice Ages!

Either way we are taking things easy and with the rain outside I think the Ice Age Movies will be rented very soon for some popcorn and movie time!!! Yippee to that!!

It's only been 8 days since Thea joined our family but we are all loving having her!! The children especially think it's wonderful, infact Sapphire is always wanting to know where the "meowff" is!! CUTE!!! She's well and truly made herself at home and I think it's made our Winter time much sunnier and warm!

Savoury Scones

Basically every Thursday we have a cooked lunch! It's nice to have something different each day for lunch and my absolute fav day is Thursday cause I always make Savoury Scones!!
Sometimes they are pumpkin ones but mostly they are zucchini. It's just a basic scone recipe which I then add the savoury flavours too. The children and I LOVE them and they are perfect for a picnic too!! (just as long as they are still warm as Zeke only likes them that way!! hee he!)
The children never used to like them though..... until one day I said they were just like Zucchini slice, why don't you just add sauce!! SO from that day the scones are served with tomato sauce (and butter for those who want it too!!)

I like to put avocado, tomato and spinach on top of mine like it's a warm sandwitch... Ummm delish!!!
Can't wait till we eat them again!!

Circus Fun {book making}

One of the blogs I follow HERE, is by the very talented, arty Gail!! The ideas she comes up with are totally awesome!!! This particular arty activity is to make a Circus book and a few weeks ago the children and I invited some friends to join us and have some Big Top Fun! The instructions are super easy to follow from that artist woman and the extra pictures we found from HERE!
Sophia decorating her envelope to hold her extra pieces!
Zeke getting busy drawing his trapeze artist!
Zeke's finished tent, complete with Lion Tammer,
he made the jump hoop and whip!!
A clever seal balancing a ball!
Mr strong man!! Ready to lift....
YAY, he did it!!
(check out that six pack!!)
My finished Tent I made for Esther!
I went with two clowns, one being the puppet and then also
added the acrobatic to the background of my trapeze guy!
Sophia went with an all white tent...
She designed the lady trapeze artist from the original picture!
It was soo much fun putting these together, can't wait to do some more book fun with the children in the future!

Cloud experiment - Tuesday Science day

Looking at the weather is a great way to get the children excited about science!! The other week we took some inspiration from all the rain we were getting and decided to make our own Rain Cloud in a jar!
 Gather the supplies....
"Mik, mik" Sapphire says!! (baby talk for mix!)
We found THIS great experiment......

Sophia and Esther went with green food colouring, while Zeke and Hannah did the more traditional blue colour.

Here it is when it first starts.......

slowing starting to fill up and therefore begin to rain!!!

 Here comes the rain!!
Now for the downpour!!!

Once the experiment is done things start to get, well........

When dealing with shaving cream, it is clearly a need to end up playing and getting messy with it!!!
Hey isn't a messy child a happy, learning child??
Such fun to be had on Tuesday science days!!
